Kleiveland Gard and the salmon guilds
Kleiveland, by the Osterfjord, has been inhabited since the 1500s! A man called Tyke came rowing into the Osterfjord and saw the salmon bouncing - and settled here. After a while, more people came here, but there were no more than four or five farms. The way of life was farming and salmon fishing with gilje and sitjenot.
The village was closed until 1983. In the newly restored barn, you can experience a cozy, intimate atmosphere with candlelight and sheepskin, a fireplace and a large terrace. Here you can hear exciting salmon stories and learn about the fishing methods that were the livelihood of the village in earlier times.
Home-smoked salmon and other local treats can be served.

A great experience.
